Bulgarian students make "Martenitzas" for their project partners
Dear Friends, Through this video you are witnessing a unique Bulgarian tradition of making the "Martenitza". The legend of this beautiful double string bracelet dates back in old times as a pagan tradition that remains almost unchanged today. The common belief is that by wearing the red and white colours of the martenitsa people ask Baba Marta/ Grandma Marta- from March/ for mercy. They hope that it will make winter pass faster and bring spring. The martenitsa is also a stylized symbol of Mother Nature. At that early-spring/late-winter time of the year, Nature seems full of hopes and expectations. The white symbolizes the purity of the melting white snow and the red symbolizes the setting of the sun which becomes more and more intense as spring progresses. These two natural resources are the source of life. Our students from the arts class were enthusiastic and happy to make martenitzas for you, friends! Have a very warm, sunny and happy March month and greet the spring!

Peace Day in Menéndez y Pelayo
As every January 30,
Menendez y Pelayo has made the day of peace and nonviolence. This year we celebrated
with more enthusiasm because we are part of the great international
Comenius project based on the theme Peace at home, Peace in the World. With the help of our
music teacher Juanjo, who has adapted the famous John Lennon's song "All we
are saying is give peace a chance", all students, teachers and families
have participated in a joint dance for peace.
Students also participated in different activities in their classes, such as murals, posters, globes decorated with peace symbols, poems, written works on the biography of famous people who have received the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize . Below you have a video about the event and a photo essay on this very special day. We hope you like it.

Christmas Cards
This is our
students’ contribution to the Christmas celebrations and peace.
They even
organized a charity event to raise funds for children living in poverty and
unequal situation. They also put some money by for sick children. The event was
successful and our kids were happy to be part of this noble initiative. We are
proud of them.
